Nintendo has revealed that 180 million copies of 2D and 3D games featuring Super Mario were sold on the Switch from 2017 to 2024. Also during the current console, eight franchises of the Japanese company managed to break the figure of 30 million units sold.
The best-selling games during the lifetime of the Nintendo Switch are as follows:
- Pokemon – 99 million copies sold
- Mario Kart – 64 million
- The Legend of Zelda – 53 million
- Animal Crossing – 46 million
- 3D Mario games – 42 million
- 2D Mario games – 41 million
- Smash Bros – 35 million
- Mario Party – 41 million
- Splatoon – 26 million
- Kirby – 15 million
- Pikmin – 7.8 million
- Xenoblade – 7.1 million
- Metroid – 4.9 million
If you count spin-off games with Mario's name in them, you'll reach a figure of 200 million copies sold. It looks like the famous plumber and his adventures are still sitting on the throne as Nintendo's main mascots.
