During our visit to the largest video game fair in the world, we received an invitation to a presentation of a mission from the upcoming vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker. Photography and filming were strictly prohibited, so we will share our impressions and what we learned about the game in the rest of this article.

The one-hour presentation took place in a space that was a replica of a medieval church. To create an authentic atmosphere, the lights were turned off, and the lit candles were the only source of light. Once all the invited guests were settled, the friendly hosts from the studio Rebel Wolves introduced us to the game and showcased gameplay of one mission in two different ways.

The game's action is set in 14th century Europe in locations filled with bloodthirsty vampires. The main character, Coen, has 30 days to save his family. It is up to the players to decide whether to complete missions during the day or at night. Fortunately, time in the game does not flow in real-time; rather, the passage of time depends on exploration, solving missions, making decisions, and talking to key NPCs.

At the beginning, players will be able to choose difficulty levels - from the easiest to hardcore!

Since Coen is a dawnwalker, during the day he will be in human form, while at night he will be in vampire form. Players will have a wide range of skills available (human, vampire, shared), and leveling up and experience points (XP) will also be present.

Graphically, the game looks very good. The locations are top-notch designed, and the battles themselves are quite brutal. Vampires have never looked more realistic. From what we saw, it is really hard to live under vampire occupation. To escape from enemies, Coen can run on walls at night and jump across rooftops.

The dialogues and musical score are also of a high standard. Although the theme of the game is dark, we must admit the melodies are really relaxing.

As is usually the case in similar titles from the genre, during the adventure players will fight against wicked bosses. During this presentation, Coen fought against Saint Michael during the day. The battle itself seemed simple, but we were told that Michael is weaker during the day, and if we had chosen to fight him at night, the battle would have been harder and more challenging. And that concluded the presentation.

It is an understatement to say that we were thrilled by the presentation. Based on what we saw, we believe that the gameplay is a crossover between the best elements of the Assassin's Creed series and The Witcher 3. We are definitely looking forward to the release of this dark open-world action RPG. You can see how it all looked in motion in the publicly released video after the fair.
