The team from Brainium Games and Deadpix Studios brings an interesting new/old game in pixel art style. The game was released on May 8, 2025, for PC and Nintendo Switch, and for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S it was released a day later, on May 9, 2025.
Undivine is a classic dark metroidvania game with RPG elements.
The main protagonist is known only as the Traveler. The setting is an abandoned village where a huge pit opened up and swallowed a large part of the population, while those who entered it never returned.
Then our pixelated hero Traveler jumps into the massive hole in the ground. By passing through the portal, we discover an interconnected world full of secrets waiting for us to uncover.

The world in the game is nonlinear, just like the quests themselves, but what pleasantly surprises is the freedom of movement, exploration, collecting relics, and fighting enemies.
The combat is fast, but not diverse; even the boss fights are somewhat monotonous.
The controls are quite simple – you move with the analog stick, jump with the X button, attack with the Square button, and use the same buttons to interact with characters and collect items.
The inventory is opened by pressing the Touchpad on the DualSense controller. In the inventory, we have various health potions, antidotes, and everything collected, including keys that we use in the menu.
There is also a talent system that allows us to develop skills such as alchemy, demonology, agility, and cartography.
As players, we can use relics, swords, armor, and accessories like rings that improve stats or allow us to display, for example, the opponent's health bar. This gives us the ability to create a character according to our own ideas and gradually unlock their abilities.
Besides health potions, an important element is "bleeding time," which is why we need to use bandages in time.
In addition to health potions, it is worth mentioning the checkpoint that restores health, fully charges the Macula, and returns us to the nearest point where we lost a life.
The Macula is key to opening certain doors that can only be activated by it.
Enemies are mostly various monsters that attack when we get close to them or when they approach us. A few of them also attack from a distance, launching projectiles like a "flying spider."

The game is accompanied by a dark atmosphere, which is not surprising since we do not see the light of day – like miners, we go deeper and deeper.
The map is really huge, but thanks to the L2 button, we can open it at any time to check where we got stuck.
A special ambiance is created by the music that changes depending on the environment of the part of the map we are in.
The graphics are classic pixel art visuals that match the theme and atmosphere – a true new/old game full of the charm of returning to the world of old NES games: just like that, charming, minimalist.
All of you who are fans of Metroidvania games, this is the ideal game for relaxed play and old-school exploration.
