Knights of the Crusades is the new title from Reverie World Studios, developed in collaboration with indie.io, which has just arrived on Steam. It is a grand strategy hybrid in real-time set in the turbulent period of the First Crusade. The player takes on the role of an ambitious lord who can rise from a military commander to an emperor, shaping the fate of medieval Europe under the banner and faith of their choice.
The game features authentic battles based on historical research, where success depends not only on the size of the army but also on the smart use of formations, terrain, and the weaknesses of the opponent. However, warfare is just part of the challenge – the army and subjects require food, money, and resources, so managing logistics and the state is as important as victories on the battlefield.
Knights of the Crusades offers a broad perspective on history – from Western Christian kingdoms and Muslim emirates to Slavic and pagan tribes of the north and east. Instead of a campaign to Jerusalem, players can build power in Germany, Poland, or even attempt to revive pagan traditions and alter the course of European history.
