Microsoft and Playground Games have officially announced Forza Horizon 6, the new installment of the popular open-world racing series.
The game will first be released for Xbox Series and PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store) during 2026, while the PlayStation 5 version will appear later. The game will also be available within the Game Pass service.
The story will take place in Japan, focusing on diverse landscapes: from urban metropolises like Tokyo to natural beauties and mountainous areas around the famous Mount Fuji. The creators emphasize that the choice of Japan has been a long-standing wish of Horizon series fans and that they want to showcase the authentic spirit of Japanese culture through detailed work on the environment, sound, architecture, and cars.
Seasonal changes, which have long been a hallmark of Horizon games, will be integrated into Forza Horizon 6 not only as a visual effect but also as an element that changes the feel of the game — spring, summer, autumn, and winter will impact the atmosphere and ambiance.
For now, only a teaser is available, and more details are expected in early 2026.
