Relic Entertainment, a team best known for the strategy series Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, has announced a new game. Earth vs. Mars will be a PC exclusive in the style of Intelligent Systems' Advance Wars, and it tasks players with defending Earth from aliens.
"For decades, Martians have been secretly visiting Earth, abducting people and animals for resource needs. Now they have returned in full force, and it is the task of a group of commanders to defeat them. Players will control the human army against the technologically advanced Martians in a fight for survival," said Relic.
Relic's head Justin Dowdeswell said: "We are excited to bring Relic's DNA into the gameplay of Advance Wars, while also reminiscing about our older titles."
He also added that: "Relic recently announced its new strategy alongside continuing work on classic titles; we will also be working on smaller indie projects to discover new subgenres, experiment, spark our minds, and release more titles more frequently."
Earth vs. Mars, according to IGN, will feature a single-player campaign with 30 missions, online multiplayer, a VS mode against artificial intelligence, and a map editor.
