Square Enix is bringing one of the most famous JRPGs to modern audiences in a completely new guise: Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a remake of the classic game Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past from 2000, is arriving on February 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store).
Dragon Quest VII originally won the hearts of millions of players with its deep stories, charming characters, and a massive world full of discoveries; Reimagined elevates this experience to a new level with modern visuals, improved systems, and a more accessible narrative, while retaining the essence that fans loved.
In Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, the player takes on the role of a young hero from the island of Estard, whose life flows peacefully until a mysterious map fragment reveals traces of long-forgotten continents. The journey that begins with curiosity transforms into an epic adventure through the past and present, where players uncover the secrets of lost lands and battle threats that could destroy the world.
Visually, the remake employs a unique style that presents the world as lavish dioramas, combining enchanting 3D environments with Akira Toriyama's original character design, resulting in vibrant and lively settings.
