Have you ever imagined what it would look like if it rained kittens? It sounds impossible—but A Cloudy Chance of Kittens lets you pretend.
Developed and published by indie team Ninja Chompek (comprising four humans and two cats), Cloudy with a Chance of Kittens is an upcoming physics-based puzzle game inspired by the viral Japanese hit Suika Game. But instead of fruits, this time it’s dessert-themed cats dropping into your jar.
The game is slated for release in Q3 2025 on Windows and Linux via Steam.
Merge Cats, Survive the Weather
The core gameplay loop involves merging falling kittens to create larger, cuter cat forms—ending in the ultimate “cat-ermelon.” Players can choose from a variety of modes:
- Relaxed Mode: A laid-back, no-pressure experience.
- Survival Mode: Beat the clock while clearing obstacles.
- Weather Mode: Changing physics and weather patterns shake up the challenge.
Power-ups add a layer of chaos or control, letting players shrink cats, remove obstructions, or manipulate the environment to their advantage.
A Cozy Cat Game with Personality
From its charming visuals to playful sound effects, A Cloudy Chance of Kittens wears its personality on its paw. The whimsical combination of dessert aesthetics, merging mechanics, and cats is perfect for puzzle fans who like their games cute and chaotic.
Whether you’re into relaxing games or score-chasing challenges, Cloudy with a Chance of Kittens looks like a treat worth watching.
Grateful to Ninja Chompek for letting us take a closer look at their adorable upcoming title.
