Student Esports Tournament: The seventh season culminates with the LAN finale in Zagreb

The seventh season of the Student Esports Tournament (SET), the largest student esports competition in the region, is entering its finale. After several months of qualifications, group stages and playoff matches, the finalists who will fight for the title of the best student esports team in Croatia this weekend are known.

Finalists by disciplines
After an exciting group stage and tense playoff matches, the teams that will fight for titles in each of the four disciplines are known.

In League of Legends and Counter-Strike 2, we will see the same final pairings. One of the biggest student esports rivals, the Technical University of Zagreb (TVZ) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), will try to win trophies in both disciplines and gain an advantage in the battle for the overall SET winner.

In Counter-Strike, the team from TVZ has so far won both editions of this discipline since the format was changed from pentathlon to separate competitions, thereby confirming the status of one of the most dominant student teams in the country. On the other hand, FER qualified for the finals for the first time, after an extremely dominant performance throughout the tournament. The teams have already met twice this season, and each faculty registered one victory, which speaks volumes about the evenness and tension that awaits us in the final.

In the League of Legends, TVZ and FER will once again compete in the grand final, just like last year, when TVZ was more successful. After that, they represented Croatia at the European student level, which further confirmed the quality of the local student esports scene. Both teams feature players who compete or have competed in regional and European leagues, which further raises the level of this year's final. The audience at the LAN finale will have the opportunity to watch live some of the best League of Legends players in Croatia.

In Valorant, the final match brings a clash between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technologies from Osijek (FERIT) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). The team from Osijek is playing its third final in a row in this discipline, and last year they represented Croatia at the European student competition UEM, where they fought on an equal footing with much bigger universities from all over Europe.

In the Rocket League, the place at the LAN finals was secured by the Zagreb Faculty of Economics, the University of Algebra Bernays and the Technical Polytechnic in Zagreb. It is the only discipline in which the lower bracket final is also played live on LAN, and the interesting thing is that this year we will get a new winner of Rocket League, since the two-year dominance of FER has been broken.
LAN final at Algebra Bernays University
The grand final of the seventh season of the Student Esports Tournament will be held on February 28 and March 1 at Algebra Bernays University, in the modern Spark Space in Zagreb.

On Saturday, February 28, the finals in the Counter-Strike 2 and League of Legends disciplines are scheduled, and the program starts at 10 a.m. with the grand final of Counter-Strike.
Sunday, March 1, is reserved for the finals of Valorant and Rocket League, with which the program starts at 11 a.m.

During the two days of the competition, the best student teams in Croatia will perform in a real esports environment, in front of an audience and with professional production, which enables them to experience what we usually see at the biggest international tournaments.

The LAN final is open to all visitors, and the entrance is free.
