Reanimal – a spiritual continuation of the Little Nightmares series

Swedish development team Tarsier Studios, best known for the Little Nightmares series, returns with a brand new horror adventure called Reanimal – a game that promises to push the boundaries of atmospheric fear and player cooperation. Reanimal releases on February 13, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC,

In Reanimal, you take on the roles of a brother and sister, two orphans in search of their missing friends on a mysterious and terrifying island. The game combines elements of survival horror, stealth and cinematic platformer, encouraging you to work together through dark landscapes, solve puzzles and avoid grotesque enemies lurking in the shadows.

One of the key features is the cooperative mechanics: Reanimal can be played solo, with a different protagonist taking control of the AI, or in two-player local or online co-op, which further enhances the sense of survival together. The camera is specially designed to keep both characters in the frame to increase claustrophobia and tension during gameplay.

Visually and thematically, Reanimal delves deep into gruesome, often harrowing scenes and monster designs – inspired by the protagonists' own oppressed pasts and the devastated environment that once represented home. This narrative complexity and beautifully presented yet unsettling visuals invite players to confront the dark mysteries of the island.

Although it carries the DNA of Little Nightmares, Reanimal clearly breaks away from that formula and aims to provide a deeper and darker experience: the development team stated that they wanted to go beyond the familiar charm of their previous games and create a story and atmosphere that will remain etched in the player's memory for a long time.

With a combination of tense sequences, puzzle solving and cooperative survival, Reanimal may seem like the ideal game for those looking for an intense horror experience with a friend or alone with their own strengths and fears.

Reanimal is not only a return to the roots of a genre full of gruesome scenes and feelings of vulnerability – it's also an opportunity to immerse yourself in an emotionally charged story of loss, hope and struggle through the deepest nightmares.
