Grand Theft Auto 6 may not have a physical version on release day

The latest reports suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 may not have a physical version on release day, although the game is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

According to an article published in Polish PPE portal, and translated 0in English to Video Games Chronicle, publisher Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are considering GTA 6 coming out exclusively digitally first — with no discs or physical copies on launch day.

The main reason for such a decision would allegedly be to prevent early leaks and spoilers: physical copies of games often arrive in stores before the official date, which allows a few players to get the game too early and publish story or gameplay details online.

According to sources, the Fijian version of the game could be released after the digital launch, but it is speculated that it could be a few weeks later or even in the first part of 2027.

Rockstar and Take-Two have not yet officially confirmed these plans, so the information is considered unconfirmed but credible insider rumours.
