Global Game Jam Rijeka 2026 – 48 sati kreativnosti, tehnologije i zabave u srcu Rijeke

He is returning to Rijeka this year as well Global Game Jam! From January 30 to February 1, in space Center for technical culture, the seventh Rijeka edition of this competitive event will be held, which brings together lovers of video games, technology and creative creation.

The Global Game Jam is the world's largest video game development event held simultaneously in hundreds of locations around the world. Contestants have only 48 hours from the announcement of the secret theme until the end of Sunday to prepare functional video games: with lots of cooperation, challenges and a good atmosphere.

No previous knowledge or experience is required to participate in the Global Game Jam. Programmers, designers, illustrators, musicians, gamers, but also all video game lovers with an idea and a desire to learn are welcome. The entire event is free and open to everyone. Competitors come not only from Rijeka, but also from other counties and countries, making the event an important point in the development of the industry in Croatia and beyond. The Rijeka edition of Game Jam will be the largest of its kind in Croatia, and we expect over 20 ready-made games.

At the end of the competition, a judging panel of experts and enthusiasts will evaluate and reward the produced games, consisting of: Nikolina Finland (Sentona Games), a veteran of the mobile game industry who worked on a globally known project Angry Birds te Jorma Finland (Rebel Studio), also a veteran of the mobile game industry with many years of experience. Jonathan Yoe, who runs bizdev for the marketing agency Riviera koja suorganizira najveću hrvatsku konvenciju Rikon te Expo Gamers – konferenciju i sajam industrije videoigara, dok Valentino Simunović participates as a sponsor and representative Media Center, IT equipment stores. Aleksandar Gavrilović, CEO of the studio Gamechuck, brings to the competitors the rich experience of one of the leading domestic independent game studios, a Iva Tsarević, senior animator at Nanobit, shares knowledge from working on successful mobile games for the global market.

Valuable prizes await the best teams, and participation is completely free for all competitors with mandatory registration on the official website of the Global Game Jam organization. The organization and sponsors made sure that all competitors were provided with meals and refreshments. The project is carried out by the Association for Creative Media RiCode and the Association 3. zmaj with the support of the City of Rijeka, the Kultura nova Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.
