Dragon Quest VII is getting a new remake

Square Enix is ​​bringing back one of the most famous JRPGs to modern audiences in a brand new guise: Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a remake of the classic game Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past from 2000, arrives February 5, 2026. na PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 i PC (Steam, Microsoft Store).

A journey that begins with curiosity turns into an epic adventure through the past and present, where players discover the secrets of lost lands and fight against threats that can destroy the world.

Visually, the remake uses a unique style that depicts the world as opulent dioramas, combining mesmerizing 3D environments with Akira Toriyama's original art designs, resulting in vivid and vibrant environments.

The gameplay has been refined and improved. The combat system and the class (vocation) system have received significant improvements: the "Moonlighting" system allows learning two classes at the same time, and a new tactical depth encourages players to combine skills and spells for more powerful effects. Battles can also run uninterrupted between turns, depending on the tactics chosen, and the game includes auto-battle and the ability to intercept enemies on the field to avoid battles with weaker opponents.

The story, of course, remains the core of the experience, but the narrative is streamlined to make it more accessible to modern players: while it retains the canonical elements of the original, the pace has been adjusted and the characters are given a deeper and more detailed presentation.
