Baldur's Gate 3 is getting a sequel in the form of a television series

HBO has announced a new television series based on the hit RPG Baldur's Gate 3, which will continue the story right after the events of the game. The series is developed and directed by Craig Mazin, known as the co-creator of the HBO adaptation The Last of Us, and should serve as showrunner, screenwriter and executive producer of the project.

According to reports, the series will not be a direct adaptation of the main plot of the game, but will develop a new story in the world of the Forgotten Realms, combining new protagonists with returning characters from Baldur's Gate 3. The plan is to follow low-level adventurers as they grow in power, while powerful characters from the game interfere in their lives - sometimes helping, sometimes hindering.

Although Larian Studios, the developer of the original game, is not formally involved in the production, Mazin is reportedly in contact with some of the original game actors to consider their roles in the series. HBO has yet to announce a release date or cast details, but fans are already speculating about the characters that might appear.
