Capcom's new hit Resident Evil Requiem, released on February 27th, has been a huge hit with gamers and critics alike. After the first weekend of release, the game climbed to the very top Metacritic with an impressive user rating of 9.5 which shares the title of the highest rated game of all time according to users. Requiem thus stands alongside the title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and according to user ratings it surpasses classics such as Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Silent Hill. Interestingly, the list of highly rated games also includes the unusual title Disney Cory in the House. Along with Clair Obscur, Requiem is one of the few titles from the 2020s that is in the top 10 of all time by user ratings. When it comes to critical scores, Resident Evil Requiem currently leads the 2026 releases with a Metascore of 88, tied with Pokémon Pokopia, Mewgenics, and Esoteric Ebb. All of this positions Requiem as a serious contender for the Game of the Year award.
