DISCO SIMULATOR in the true sense of the word

It's the turn of another simulator in the series, this time it's a disco simulator that pleasantly surprised us with the way it set things up in the game itself.

The game provides us with the experience of leading and managing a disk from the financial aspect, but also a whole series of operational things that we may not even be aware are part of the daily rhythm of a disk. You start your experience in this industry by starting from scratch, from an empty space that needs to be edited and launched with limited resources to a disk that will be popular, well-equipped and superbly organized with all the necessary personnel who must follow the development of the disk itself. In doing so, it is important not to forget about fixed costs such as staff costs or the cost of purchasing alcoholic beverages.

Na samom početku biramo menadžera diska. Nisu svi menadžeri odmah dostupni nego iste otključavamo tijekom igre. Prilikom pokretanja diska dostupna nam je jedino Martha koja primjerice donosi 10 % jeftiniju opremu radi svojih sjajnih odnosa s tvrtkama koji nam istu nabavljaju. Kasnije su nam dostupni Sylvia koju možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘Los Palmos’ (omogućava da konobari rade 50 % brže i da se alkohol prodaje po 20 % većoj cijeni), Greg kojeg možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘The Fire’ (omogućava da su organizacije događaja 20 % jeftinije), Simon kojeg možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘Comeo’ (omogućava da zaposlenici rade 25 % brže i 50 % jeftinije), Rosa koju možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘Drama’ (omogućava da se incidenti rješavaju 3 puta brže), Ray kojeg možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘Twilight’ (omogućava da su investicije 20 % jeftinije) te Alstair kojeg možemo angažirati nakon dovršetka ‘The Focus’ (omogućava da izbacivači rade 50 % brže i besplatno).

After selecting the manager, it is necessary to select the club. At the very beginning, Los Palmos, The Fire and Cameo are available to us. Each of the clubs has its own goals:

  • Los Palmos: event organization
  • The Fire: end the evening with one/on the first disco level
  • Cameo: End the night with US$100,000.00
  • Drama: end the evening on the second disco level
  • Twilight: End the night with US$150,000.00
  • The Focus: End the night with US$200,000.00
  • Club Electric: end the evening with the third disco level
  • Cyber: End the night with US$250,000.00
  • Phantom: end the evening on the fifth disco level

Given the above, you can immediately conclude that the game will provide you with dozens of hours of gameplay.

The picture shows the disco at its very beginning. The top menu shows the start of a new day in the disk, the total number of days and dates, the amount of money, the expected number of visitors, reputation, level of decoration/arrangement, bar equipment and energy. In the bottom menu we have the build menu, the equipment menu, the staff menu, the upgrade menu, the event calendar menu and the disco level overview.

All the mentioned aspects show us how this simulator tried to present to us all aspects of driving and managing the disk.

Što se tiče samog gameplaya, igra je jednostavna i ne treba vam puno vremena da uđete in medias res. Potrebno je samo ispuniti nekoliko tehničkih preduvjeta poput kupnje namještaja, ugradnje wc-a, postavljanja plesnog podija te zapošljavanja izbacivača i konobara. Nakon osiguranja tih osnovnih pretpostavki, možete pokrenuti disko, odnosno otvoriti svoja vrata za posjetitelje.  Nakon toga idete iz večeri u večer te postupno podižete vaš disko na veći nivo.

Težina igre je umjerena, ali nema novih izazova kada prelazite u veće objekte s puno većim obrtajem novca. Tu se ne pojavljuju problemi (pardon ,,izazovi” kako ih danas zovemo) s osobljem, incidenti koje je potrebno rješavati u samom klubu već je to svedeno na odluke poput zvanja policije/hitnih službi nakon čega vas igra nagradi jer se postupali ispravno. 

As for the story, it certainly isn't in the game itself. It's not the point, but it wouldn't be out of place if there was at least some story like you as a player, for example, progressing from running a small bar to a big disco. 

Igra pruža dovoljan uvid u poslovanje jednog diska, njegove financijske i operativne prepreke te može pružiti dobru podlogu za to da shvatite što je sve potrebno da bi uspješno vodili jedan disko. Da uspjeh ne ovisi samo o financijskim aspektima ili dobroj glazbi već i o nizu operativnih stvari poput redova čekanja za ulazak u klub, red  čekanja na šanku ili na redu za wc. Sve to utječe kako u ovom simulatoru pa tako i u stvarnom životu na zadovoljstvo samog korisnika. 

The visual impression is ok, but it would be good (or at least in the future) if during the evening as a player you switch to first person, while in the phase of (re)building/planning you are in this game mode as it is now present. 

A big flaw in the game itself is the music. It is there, but quite insufficient and not diverse. We know all the problems present and why it is not possible to insert a bunch of music into the game itself, but we still think that music is an extremely important element of the game itself, for which we do not see that special emphasis was placed by the developers themselves, and it should have been!

Igru ćete definitivno morati odigrati više puta (tu mislimo na vođenje svih diskova), ali moramo naglasiti da je odigravanje poprilično repetitivno, rekli bi na istu ”šprancu”. Tu je recimo glazba mogla igrati značajnu ulogu pa makar u dojmu/percepciji.

The price of this game is currently 12 EUR for XBOX, and we think that the price is good for what the game offers us.
