RUBATO is new 2D collect-a-thon action platformer which will appear on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch i PC via Steam March 20, 2026. The game is developed and published by an indie team dconn, with the support of the publisher Headcannon, known for his work on Sonic Mania Plus and other projects.
RUBATO combines classic side-scrolling platforming with experimental physics systems and Metroidvania-style exploration. The game is set in the distant future — year 12.012 — after a catastrophe in which unknown forces destroyed the solar system, and the population begins to disappear. In the chaos that follows, one mistakenly hit pool table triggers a series of unusual events that lead the protagonist on an adventure to save the world.
Players will go through five densely filled areas, such as a huge bakery and the "worst planned city in the world", discovering secrets and shortcuts while collecting the so-called "Planet Bits" — essential for the restoration of the destroyed solar system. One of the characteristic mechanics is the use of the protagonist's language for flashing of enemies and objects, which adds a humorous and unique dynamic to the gameplay.
